Fast and Easy way
to make Neon Glows like this...
...and some more interesting.
Step 1
First: Open Photoshop and create a new document 512 x 512 pixels,
with Transparent background.
Second: Type a Neon Text or Symbol (a Star, Snowflake or...)
as Horizontal Type Mask Tool
to create a selection in the shape of the type.
Third: Go to Edit / Stroke... and choose the Width and Color of the Neon Tube.
Fourth: To create the Neon Glow go to Layer / Layer Style and set all ajustments as in the image below. Click OK.
This is the final Neon Glow image transformation in Photoshop.
Now save it as "Neon Glow.PSD" file
Step 2 Open a new Bryce scene. On the Create palette, click the 2D Face Vertical tool to create a rectangle.
Click 'A' to enter the Object Attributes.
Enlarge the object 80 units in X and Y size and rotate it - 45 degrees.
Delete the Ground Plane.
Click Sky & Fog. Click the triangle next to Sky & Fog.
In the Sky & Fog presets selection panel, choose
the sky thumbnail to "Because the Night" or "Howling Coyote".
( Neon Glow works best with dark backgrounds ).
Click on 'M' to enter the Edit Material.
In Materials Lab set all adjustments as in the image below.
Change the Texture Mapping Mode to Parametric
and Material Options to Blend Transparency.
Now click on the 'P' button and then click on button above it to
enter the Texture Source Editor (Picture Room).
In the Texture Source Editor is only one Picture-"Leo". Click on the right
empty black button and find the 'Neon Glow' Photoshop .PSD file.
Load it. Apply Selected Image and return to the Materials Lab.
Go back to Bryce Scene Editor and create a Radial Light.
Click 'E' to enter the Light Lab and change Intensity to 58.
Change Color - Uniform to Warm Yellow and Falloff to None.
Click the Render button to see what the scene looks like
after adding Radial Light.
